Talavera Pottery & Art
The art
form of Talavera Pottery was
conceived in the late 12th
century in Europe. Designs
were a result of the
blending of Italian, Spanish
and indigenous ceramic
influences.
The production of Talavera
Pottery eventually made its
way to Mexico in the mid
17th century, where the
craftsmanship maintained
original techniques, but
perfected the process by the
use of their very fine
clays. And, by introducing a
pallette of brilliant
colors, they have forever
imbued Talavera with its now
much sought after signature
style.
